School is different for everyone, but I have always had struggles in school. School was not my safe space; it was more of a place that I dreaded going to because of mean kids and teachers. Why Animas? People ask me that, and it is because Animas was different from other schools. I am here for the project based teaching style. I realized that projects are what many adults do in life. What drew me here was how it was a small school, but it seemed like many activities and events went on. I had heard from others that the teachers were so laid back and easygoing, and I did not believe it at first. I was used to strict teachers with a traditional style of teaching, so I was prepared for the worst. It has turned out amazing so far, and I now feel hopeful. I now have goals for myself that I want to accomplish. I want to get good grades with A’s, gain knowledge, and make friends. I also hope to get a better understanding of projects and be independent.
There are many things I look forward to in high school which are making new friendships and being involved in awesome things like projects with helping people or projects about making a difference in the world or our town. When I am an adult I hope that I can look back to my high school years and remember all the amazing things I did in high school with friends and teachers. I would smile at the nostalgic thoughts in my brain about Animas. Even if we have troubles in school, we have to remember that education is important for our well-being. Education gives us knowledge and wisdom about the amazing things that happen in this world. Education to me means new things in my mind that will help me create a better future for myself and hopefully others.
This is the first project I have done at this school. I made sure it showed the bond I have with my dog.
